Summertime Blues

It's really quite sad when the only romance you can come by is through a book.

Yes, I am know. I'm only 20. But a little fun would be nice, right? Nights at the movies, hand holding in the sunshine. My coworkers seem to think I, quote, "need a man." It was funny to listen to their conversation about me and my prospects. "She needs a good-bad guy." "I picture her with a really tall, kind of jock guy who is smart... yeah, a good-bad guy." It's nice to know someone out there thinks I need someone.

My family just says, in response to me telling them that no, there is no guy, "you don't need a boyfriend right now. Focus on your school. That's what you need to do." I am so sick of hearing that.

My best friend is desperate, too. She did the eharmony free communication weekend, just to see how that worked. She just might be joining the site, paying for it... I told her to tell me how that worked out, I might need to join, too. Heck, nothing else is working.

"Her heart lived in no cherished secrets of its own, but in feelings which it longed to share with the world." George Eliot
